We’re currently living in Madron. And as we have We’re currently living in Madron. And as we have dogs, it’s incredibly important to us, to have a decent walk right at the house.  And, without realizing it beforehand, we found ourselves just a few minutes from the house in the forest of the Holy Well of Madron.  Madron Well is famed for its magical healing powers. Visitors still tie cloths to surrounding branches, continuing a centuries-old tradition. Historically, the sick would bathe in the well during Beltane, walk around it three times, and leave cloth from the afflicted area, believing that as it decayed, their illness would heal. High radiation levels are thought to boost its mystical properties. Local maidens also performed rituals here to predict marriage timing. Nearby, the ruins of a 12th-century chapel, possibly linked to Pagan worship.  But the Well is not that easy to find. We spent hours making our way through the undergrowth, had to pull our shoes out of the boggy ground, and bumped our heads on live branches, that tried to chase us away. In the end, Tia found the sacred waters and went straight for a boggy dip, followed by my hysterical laughter, which will surely initiate my healing. Yeah!
